Roles and Responsibility
The Senior Migration Technician role undertakes technical
delivery tasks contributing to the wider goals and outcomes of a project.
The Senior Migration Technician will be responsible for
executing technical activities across a project lifecycle, including:
- Manage migration task allocation and resourcing across
the Migration team
- Run migration activities within team
- Migrating server workloads across a range of
infrastructure solutions
- Perform investigations into migration failures to
identify causes
- Maintain migration schedules & reporting
- Highlight any scheduling or planning issues
- The Senior Migration Technicians will work as part of a
delivery team and be directed by senior delivery resources, as well as having
opportunity to work under their own initiative, and present their ideas and opinions
on efficient and effective technical task completion.
- Senior Migration Technician is expected to be willing and
able to perform migration activities at any requested time in line with the
migration plan and with suitable advance notice.
Qualifications:
- Hands on experience as a technical implementation
engineer or operator.
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as applying
own initiative to task execution and problem solving.
- Understand the importance of meeting project and customer
timelines/deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable skills:
- Experience of performing migration activities in several
of the following areas –
- Windows & Linux operating systems
- VMware
- AWS/Azure
- Networking principles
- Storage technologies
- Experience in using Discovery & migration tooling
Experience:
- 3 to 4 years’ experience in working on customer migration
projects
- Proven skills in delivering Customer projects
- Managing and allocation of tasks to a team of technicians
Certifications:
- Any technical qualifications in technologies listed above
helpful, but not mandatory
