The AS400 administrator will be responsible for all aspects of the IBM iSeries environment including design, deployment, management, monitoring, automating, documenting and problem solving
- Performs at a senior level supporting the AS400/iSeries/IBMi
- Responsible for planning and executing OS upgrades and applying PTF’s
- Partners with IBM to install and maintain the AS400/iSeries/IBMi hardware
- Assures the system is secure by following best practices, using preferred security configurations and regularly applying system PTF’s
- Monitors system performance (E980), disk (DS8K) memory usage, logs etc.
- Previous experience supporting Mark Magic, Aldon, Performance Manager, Control-M etc
- Limited use of command line (CL) to isolate issues
- Work under minimal supervision taking ownership of incidents and documenting resolutions
- Regularly creates and reviews technical documentation
- Perform disaster recovery, backup and restore activities
- Supports solution availability to documented SLA/OLA’s
- User administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate or above
- 5-7 years’ experience in AS400/iSeries/IBMi administration and support
- Administration experience within a multi-platform technical environment
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, different shifts, on-call and overtime hours as required
- Must be familiar with DS8k storage & E class compute
- Experienced with O/S version 7.x plus
- In depth understanding of IBM iSeries day-to-day administration
